Leicestershire CCC’s pre-season plans are out of this world!

Awareness of space is a key attribute to being a professional cricketer – and Leicestershire CCC is taking that phrase literally as they launch pre-season preparations.

The National Space Centre, Leicester's leading visitor attraction, has challenged the players to take on their exciting 'save the world' scenario, to see if they have the "right stuff" on Wednesday, March 16.

Leicestershire do not want to be eclipsed by the opposition this summer, so the visit will stand them in good stead before the season takes off.

The lads have to work together to ensure they succeed and Head Coach Phil Whitticase is delighted that the National Space Centre is providing hospitality.

He said: “Team-building is a key theme of our first week of pre-season and we are really pleased to be visiting the National Space Centre.

“They are being extremely generous in lending us their excellent facilities and we are all looking forward to going down and exploring the Centre.”

Club Captain Matthew Hoggard is well-versed in sending down rockets and he can’t wait to see his troops take on the challenge.

He said: “We have some varied plans for our first week of pre-season before the cricket kicks in and this challenge will be perfect for the lads.

“They will have to work together, show leadership and have a collective spirit to succeed the mission. All of these attributes will be needed in the 2011 season.”

The National Space Centre is pleased to be welcoming the Club. Malika Andress, spokesperson for the National Space Centre said; "We are proud to be working with such a great team on building their skills and I am sure it will be an out of this world success!"
