Opening Hours

During term time weekday opening hours are 10:00 till 16:00 Tuesday till Friday and weekends 10:00 till 17:00. (Please note we are closed on Mondays during Leicester term time.)

Our galleries are open from 10:00 till 17:00 seven days a week during school holidays.

Lunches

We can provide an area and time slot for your group to have your packed lunches. You will need to bring your own lunches with you. On arrival your bags can be stored in one of our storage cages.

Shop

The National Space Centre Cargo Bay Shop sells a variety of gifts and educational toys that your students can purchase. If you would like to pre order gifts for your group, our bookings team can provide a Cosmic Cargo Pack which will be ready for your group during your visit. These must be pre ordered two weeks before your visit.

Coach Parking

The National Space Centre has a dedicated coach park adjacent to the Space Centre main entrance. On arrival at The National Space a Space Crew representative will board the coach to brief your students and guide your group to the main entrance to ensure your trip runs smoothly.

Pre Visit

A free pre visit is a available to organisers with a confirmed booking - a maximum of two teachers per confirmed booking may attend. Official school documentation will be needed on arrival and pre booking is essential please contact our bookings team for more information.

Trails

It is recommended that you use one of our gallery trails to guide your students around our galleries. These are available in a pdf format and can be downloaded from our website click here for more information. Trails printed on arrival will incur a printing cost.

Simulator Ride

At The National Space Centre we have a 3D simulated space ride in which you can take a journey to the ice moon Europa. The cost for this is £1 per student, one supervisor is required per group but is free to ride. There is a height restriction of 1.2m to use the ride. No pre bookings are available for the simulator.

Space Centre Staff

All Space Centre staff have been Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checked and carry a photographic ID card at all times.
