YOUR MISSION

The Challenger Learning Centre is the only educational space mission simulator of its type outside of North America. It was founded by the families of the astronauts lost during the last flight of the Challenger Space Shuttle in 1986.

Using space exploration as a theme, Challenger Centre creates positive learning experiences that raise students’ expectations of success; foster a long-term interest in mathematics, science, and technology; and motivate them to pursue careers in these fields.

They have been specifically adapted by the University of Leicester to fit the requirements of the National Curriculum.

The missions are designed for groups of between 14 - 34 participants. We currently offer the following missions, click on the missions to find out more;

Rendezvous with a Comet (Years 5 to 8)

Voyage to Mars (Year 8 and above)

Team Building Missions (Years 11 to 13)

Mini Mission

We offer a one hour mini-mission for non-school groups of between 8 and 18 participants. This can be incorporated into a days' visit to the National Space Centre.
