Mission: Ice Moon

Mission:Ice Moon

The next videoconferencing mission scenario. Mission: Ice Moon, puts pupils in the roles of experts in an Emergency Response Team tasked with looking after a team of four astronauts who are exploring caves in the Icy crust of Jupiter’s moon, Europa. Working in teams in the classroom, up to 30 pupils use video-conferencing facilities and bespoke web-based mission software to monitor the dangerous situation, helping the astronauts through any difficulties. They must use and develop all their skills as scientists, mathematicians, planetary geographers. The scenario encourages efficient communication and teamwork from the students. Mission: Ice Moon is intended for use at Key Stages 3 and 4 (ages 11-16).

Mission: Ice Moon is still under development after a pilot project in partnership with Futurelab (previously NESTA Futurelab).
