Challenger Learning Centre

The centre is part of an international educational organisation founded by the families of the Challenger space-shuttle crew who died in 1986. Their purpose is to stimulate long-term interest in maths, science and technology through the mission simulations. They have been specifically adapted by the University of Leicester to fit the requirements of the National Curriculum.

The missions are designed for groups of between 18 - 34 participants. We currently offer the following missions; Rendezvous with a Comet, (suitable for Years 5 to 8); Voyage to Mars, (Year 8 and above), and Encounter Earth (Years 9 -11) . Although educationally missions are aimed at Key stage 2, 3 and 4, many other groups such as after school clubs, cubs, guides and adult social groups have experienced the excitement of a space mission.
