Every visit, every ticket, every item bought in our shop helps launch futures.

The National Space Centre isn’t just a place to explore the wonders of space — it’s a charity with a mission to make a lasting difference here on Earth. We believe in #SpaceForEveryone, and with your help, we use every penny we earn to:

  • Support communities in areas of multiple deprivation, opening doors to opportunity and inspiration.

  • Protect and share our nation’s space heritage, curating artefacts that tell the story of exploration for generations to come.

  • Create learning experiences for all ages, helping young minds see that science and engineering are not distant dreams, but real possibilities.

  • Reach people beyond our walls, sharing stories and resources online so that no one is left out of the wonder of discovery.

We receive no core government funding — every mission we undertake is fuelled by our visitors, supporters, and community. When you buy a ticket, a gift, or a coffee in our café, you’re not just supporting a day out — you’re investing in education, inclusion, and inspiration.

Like space exploration itself, our journey depends on teamwork, creativity, and perseverance. We apply for sponsorships and grants where we can, but these opportunities are increasingly competitive. That’s why your continued support matters more than ever.

Born from a millennium dream to inspire curiosity and celebrate discovery, the National Space Centre stands on the shoulders of a remarkable scientific legacy. Since 1961, when the University of Leicester launched its first Leicester-built instrument into space, there has been at least one piece of Leicester-built equipment orbiting above us every year.

Today, we continue that proud tradition — not just telling the story of the past, but shaping the future. Together, we can ensure that everyone has a place in space, and that the next generation looks up at the stars and thinks, “That could be me.”

How Can You Help?

Your support is vital to us, but we fully appreciate that money is tight for everyone.

  • Visit us – Every ticket helps us fund education programmes and preserve our artefacts for the future.
  • Shop with purpose – Every purchase in our gift shop supports our charitable work. We have ranges designed here at the National Space Centre so you won't find them anywhere else.
  • Partner with us – Businesses and organisations can collaborate on outreach, research, or sponsorship opportunities. Even hiring a meeting room, hosting a conference, or working with us to create an exclusive event will all help the charity.
  • Spread the word – Share our story online, bring your friends, or encourage schools and community groups to visit.
